Originally designed to be the final form of Ultron, the Avengers had intercepted Ultron's "Cradle" to keep it out of his reach. Stark, committed to perfecting his Artifical Intelligence, however, wanted to use this body by inserting his own interface into it with the help of Bruce Banner. The experiment was interrupted by Thor who had brought Vision to life. With the purpose of serving life itself, Vision worked with the Avengers and stopped Ultron- eventually becoming an Avenger too.
